We are delighted to welcome a new team member – Peter English! Pete is joining our ever-growing Sales & Marketing team and will be responsible for carrying out most of our digital marketing activities at Eon Visual Media!
We sat down with Pete to find out more about the latest member of our team.
So, Pete, tell us a little bit about yourself!
Since completing my undergraduate degree in 2012, I had worked at the University of Hull in various roles such as a medical research administrator, outreach officer and events coordinator. However, in 2018 I made the bold decision that I wanted a completely new change in my career and pursued my master’s degree in Advertising and Marketing. After completing my studies, I then worked as a Marketing Executive for a local IT company based in Hull. I have always been incredibly passionate about digital media technology, so I’m over the moon to be joining the Eon team! I’m thrilled to be working with an incredibly creative and talented team, and I’m very excited to use Eon’s innovative technology to convey my marketing messages.
What do you like to get up to outside the workplace?
Outside the workplace, I have quite a few hobbies that keep me entertained. I’m currently in the process of training for a half marathon, which I’ll hopefully be able to participate in later this year! It’s also been a good way for me to lose the lockdown belly I have gained over the past 12 months.
I’m also a keen musician and currently play guitar for a local funk/rock band. Although the global pandemic has put a halt to bands playing live shows, we have still been doing a lot of virtual song writing behind the scenes, and I can’t wait to start playing shows again (hopefully later this year!).
I’m also a big fan of craft beer, so I like to spend my weekends brewing beer and developing my own recipes. Before the pandemic I enjoyed going away on city breaks with my friends and family exploring various breweries and taprooms across the UK.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Creative, passionate & focused.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Currently, it’s my running training schedule! As much as I would love to stay in bed, I try to get out most mornings to do a quick run before I start work… with emphasis on ‘try’!
What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen?
A few years ago, I completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. To this day, I still vividly remember the stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales from the top of each peak. I really hope I can get away this year and redo the challenge!
What’s the strangest thing in your refrigerator?
My fridge is currently full of ingredients that I use when I’m brewing beer at home. The smell of yeast and hops might not be to everybody’s taste, but I love it!
What’s your favourite movie?
It’s got to be ‘The Grand Budapest hotel’. I’m a huge Wes Anderson fan, and that film never fails to make me cry with laughter!
What’s your favourite pizza topping?
You can never go wrong with a classic pepperoni pizza from Dominos. I’m also a firm advocate that pineapple definitely deserves to be on pizza!
When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
Whilst I was working from home, I became a huge fan of podcasts. Some of the comedy shows I have listened to have left me in stitches. Some of my favourite podcast shows include the ‘Aunty Donna Podcast’, ‘Ear Biscuits’, ‘The Darkest Timeline’ and ‘Fake Doctors Real Friends’.
What are you most looking forward to post-lockdown?
I’m really excited to have some spontaneity back in my life again! I’ve missed spontaneous trips away and meeting up with my friends and family. I’m sure that once we can all meet up again, I’ll remember not to take the small things for granted.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
My life mantra has always been pretty simple, work hard and be kind to others. I also think that it’s never too late to re-educate yourself and learn something new.
What is on your wish list for the next three years here?
I’ve had a lot of varied marketing experience across my career and previous roles at the University of Hull. I’m looking forward to contributing my expertise into the marketing practices at Eon Visual Media. However, I’m also really excited to learn new creative marketing techniques from my colleagues whilst supporting them as much as I can.
As you can see, we’re very excited to have Pete on board with our team. Make sure you subscribe to our social media channels so you can see what he and the rest of our team have been up to!
