Background and Objectives
Viking Pest Control aim to make customers feel protected and safe from pest species within the home and workplace. Their work has a positive impact on the environment and wildlife within the UK, adhering to strict codes of practice and wildlife legislation.
They work predominantly in Hull and the East Riding and offer both one off reactive treatments and managed contract work. They approached us here at Eon Visual Media to develop a bespoke project management tool to help them streamline their output and become more efficient.
What were their main objectives?
- Reduce administrative workload
- Simplify the progress recording for each job
- Provide a solution to replace excel sheets and manual data inputting
- Have the ability for technicians to complete job reporting, whilst in the field.
Process
To begin with, our team carried out extensive research around Viking Pest Control so we could best understand how their business works. Given they are contracted for both domestic and commercial properties, we wanted to truly understand how we could support their needs, reduce their administrative workload and simplify certain processes and job progress.
Working closely with Viking Pest Control, we were able to identify and plan how their workflows could be streamlined with a simpler digital process. We combined research with existing knowledge on companies in similar industries and what specific features of project management tools would be best suited for Viking Pest Control.
Unique Project Management Tool Features
Given the project management tool is bespoke, Viking Pest Control were able to tailor which features suited their company best. Their project management tool can be used on site, so the collection and storage of evidence and information is much simpler. Photos can be collected and uploaded in an instant, saving time and manual administration doing this retrospectively and trying to match images to certain jobs.
As well, their tool includes assistance in managing and scheduling for business customers, maintaining the all-important relationship with contracted customers. For example, all contracted, business clients require monthly / six weekly inspections, so the integration of a scheduling assistant is a vital part of their unique tool.
Outcome
‘The Project Management Tool (PMT) has simplified the ‘in the field reporting process,’ saving valuable time for technicians, which has enabled an increase in capacity to accept more work. The PMT creates a professional document, including treatment details, recommendations and photograph evidence which is then sent directly to the customer in PDF format, without the need to be sat at a desk. The scheduling aspect of the PMT has streamlined the process of managing contracted sites, and alerts the user of upcoming/due visits, without the need to remember and to track back through notes and spreadsheets. The team at Eon have been excellent at actioning any queries or changes requested, after a short trial period, and have really understood our vision, being able to put a thought into reality.’ – Tom Dawson, Director.
