Background
Earlier this year, we were delighted to announce that Eon Visual Media would be official Tech & Visual Media Partner for The Waterline Summit 2021! The waterline summit is organised by Marketing Humber, a not for profit organisation who operates as the Humber region’s economic place marketing company to attract investment and support local businesses to grow. Held over five days in October, The Waterline Summit acted as a precursor to COP26, and helped to link innovative decarbonisation projects and pioneering work taking place to tackle climate change in the Humber and across the world.
In this case study, we will explore how our team played a key role in co-ordinating and hosting various live and hybrid broadcasts throughout the summit and helping to connect the Humber to COP26 and beyond.
What We Did
Throughout The Waterline Summit, there was a wide variety of different events at numerous venues across the East Riding of Yorkshire including Hull City Hall, and the Aura Innovation Centre. Due to ongoing concerns with the global pandemic, some of these events were held virtually and could be accessed via an online live stream. Furthermore, these live streams and hybrid-events allowed keynotes to be easily accessed online and viewed from across the globe. As part of this, our videography team were recruited to host and co-ordinate various broadcasts throughout The Waterline Summit.
As part of our set up, our videography team coordinated a tailored live stream set up, that not only provided a broadcast quality live stream but also an enhanced in person experience. Furthermore, to ensure that our broadcasts could be easily accessed, our live streams were multicast across YouTube and Zoom simultaneously.
How We Did It
During each hybrid-event, our videography team utilised three different cameras, and delivered live vision mixing to create a professional and engaging broadcast. Our broadcasts also featured an audience cam, which allowed viewers at home to see who was asking questions during Q&A sessions. In addition to delivering a multi-cam broadcast, our team also incorporated a myriad of additional visual sources such as videos, presentation decks, interactive polls, and remote keynote speakers throughout the live session.
Including all these additional visual elements allowed us to add a high level of production quality to the live broadcast and the overall event. To see our work in action, you can watch our broadcast for The Waterline Summit event ‘The Future of Energy here! 👉
Summary
Whilst we are beginning to see the world returning to normality following on from the global pandemic and UK lockdown, we believe that we will continue to see high demand for virtual and hybrid events. Furthermore, we believe that there are many benefits of running a live video stream of your event and/or meeting.
For instance, a broadcast can reach a much larger online audience. Additionally, research suggests that 30% of people who watch a live broadcast of an event will attend the same event in person the following year. Furthermore, once an event has been live-streamed, this video footage can then be archived and viewed again and used for future digital marketing activities.
