Background and Objectives
A-One Tools, established in 1981, are an independent power tool sales, hire, and repair shop. After seeing some of our work for another client, A-One Tools got in touch to chat about some web development, branding, and marketing work.
In our proposal, we suggested the branding and design elements could have a light refresh and modernisation to give the brand’s website a more sleek, functional look.

Research and Concepts
The first step in our web design projects is always to research competitors and other businesses within similar industries. Our team found that competitors within the tools and trades industries all had very powerful, bold logos. In our initial concept, we suggested a subtle blue colour change and the use of a highlight colour from the current website, as well as using a bolder, modern sans serif font.
The client then requested some additional concepts, which we created in Adobe Illustrator, using blue and green – they gave our team creative freedom to move away from the current logo.
Design Suggestions
With frequent communication between our designers and the team at A-One Tools, we came up with some other design suggestions and concepts. We experimented with abstract flows and negative space to give the client some modern ideas.
Ultimately, they decided to return to the original concept to keep the brand familiarity they have developed over the years. We explored different options with the use of blue and yellow within the original logo, producing the final logo as shown.
A-One Tools Brand Guidelines
Brand guidelines are essential in the development and implementation of any design work, from websites to marketing. Following the creation of an improved logo, our designers set out to put together a simple set of brand guidelines in Adobe InDesign. They highlight logo usage, colour breakdowns and typography.
The brand guidelines will be used in the process of the website redesign and development, as well as in any future marketing work we undertake. Keep an eye on our website and our social media for a case study on the A-One Tools website development!
