A Minute with Abbie – Our New Team Member

arrow

We are very happy to welcome our newest team member! Abbie is joining our design team as a Graphic Designer and she will be assisting our current Graphic Designers on the many projects we are continually working on. Take it away, Abbie!

Hiya, I’m Abbie and I’m currently a student doing a placement here at Eon Visual Media! I’m Hull born and bred so that obviously means i’m a friendly face to anyone that needs it. My ambition is to be a graphic designer but I’m also interested in so many other creative pathways such as animation, illustration and even fashion.

I would say I am most inspired by design that is out there and daring. A few brands that come to mind are; Dead Man’s Fingers, Fenty Beauty and Urban Outfitters. I am very much a restless person which means I always have my own side projects on the go! For example, I recently started my own small business on Etsy where I make and sell feminist prints, cards and even plant pots.

I enjoy travelling, and I love live concerts, you can’t beat that kind of atmosphere! I’m also a big family girl; anywhere my family goes I’m more than likely to follow.

I’m hoping that during my time here at Eon I will be able to learn and adapt to being in a work environment. I want to contribute as much as possible to projects so I can be proud to say I worked on them. I’m also hoping to build my skills and meet some great people along the way!

Meet Abbie

We sat down with our latest team member for a minute… Let’s see what we got to know about Abbie!

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Very little! My best friend is my bed but when I have plans or something I need to be doing I’m straight out. Also, recently I have found that my niece jumping on me awake is becoming more and more regular!

What three words would you use to describe your new role?

Exciting, Beneficial and Rewarding.

If you could switch jobs with someone, who would it be?

I think I would say Teri (one of our graphic Designers) because I love creating and I’d love to develop my skills in animation!

What is on your wish list for the next three years here?

I’d love to contribute to some big briefs that I can be proud of and learn as much as I can! I’m also hoping to leave with some new contacts and good friends.

If you could choose anyone who would you pick as your mentor?

This is a hard question because everyone is so lovely but maybe Jade (Interim Head of Video & Animation) because I feel like we would have a lot in common.

When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?

I tend to do this quite often, but the last time was probably the final episode when I binge-watched the office USA with my friends. I was so sad for it to end but was in hysterics laughing!

What is your motto or personal mantra?

Treat people how you would like to be treated! I don’t think you get anywhere in life if you are a bad person, always be kind and you will find happiness.

Given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

I’m not sure, I would most likely like to be a fictional character. I reckon it would be fun to be someone like Spiderman or Peter Griffin for a day!
